GREAT VIBRATIONS is a music appreciation program for pre-school through first grade children, designed by George Oakley, to lay a strong foundation for further musical studies, while emphasizing the FUN-damentals of music.  Children’s inherent curiosity and natural joy in all things musical are enhanced through singing, movement, drawing, story-telling and hands-on experience with instruments from every family of the orchestra.  Familiarity with several instruments enables students to make a more satisfactory choice of selecting one for private study.  Pupils are introduced to the different dimensions of music such as pitch, rhythm and dynamics through familiar folk songs and experiments with sound..  Interest in classical works is also brought to life through stories of the composer’s early years and interesting historical footnotes about particular pieces.
